GUNNY BAG ART
An unusual form of Trench Art - being stencilled sandbags...if you have any information on this soldier art pastime, or images to share, please do contact me...
German sandbags, taken in France, by "Tommy" and stencilled in the trenches in their spare time...
This example depicts YPRES 1916 with a "75" Cannon Gun and a soldier drinking rum - the caption says - "If we are drinking rum never mind".
The above images were provided by Shane Anderson, Canada, whose Grandfather George served with the Canadian Army, and who purchased the souvenir in 1917 (see his note below)
